Research organizations are disambiguated using GRID. GRID captures spelling and naming variations for a given institution so that we can use data from multiple sources and identify the correct institution from the information given. If data arrives with an institution either not yet included in GRID or a spelling variation not yet seen, these are picked up and manually disambiguated. It is important to note that GRID does not automatically aggregate related institutes - e.g. university hospitals such as Charité Berlin will be treated as independent institutions. This granularity allows you to perform detailed analyses. If you are interested in a broader definition of an institution including many institutes or medical centers, you may need to aggregate the related institutes in the interface using an OR search, or by creating a group. GRID provides information about related and child institutes which can be helpful for aggregation, and if you would like more information about the GRID policies for indexing please go here.

Please note - the Research Organization filter in Dimensions is only available if you have a Dimensions subscription, and is not present in the Free Dimensions version.
